We open tonight!

I really do think we're ready to open tonight. We're having a quick rehearsal to make sure that the sound and lights are ok. I'll tell you all about the show later!

SOOOOO tired!

So today was the second day of dress rehearsal. Yesterday, we were supposed to do all the tech stuff, like write the lighting cues, and run the sound with all of the microphones. I made up a mic plot that says who wears what mic, and when they have to change them. NO ONE WAS FOLLOWING IT. People thought that since they had one line, they got a mic. I iwsh we could do that, but we just don't have enough mics for that! No one knew how to program the board, so I was unable to do anything with the lights. I thought that the sound people were doing a really bad job, because I kept hearing microphones on that weren't on stage at the time. It turns out that the sound board is kind of crappy, and you can hear people talking even when they are muted and turned all the way down on the board.

Rehearsal was a lot better today though. The lady who's in charge of the cultural program decided to excuse them from all of their classes the rest of the week. So we had rehearsal today from 10 in the morning till 10 at night, with about 3 hours worth of break time. I found the manual for the light board online, and programed it. I can't wait til tomorrow! That's when we add in all of the costumes! SO excited for that. I'll post pictures when I can! Only a week left here.

Show me how you get down!

So rehearsals are getting better! We only have 4 days of practice left though! Kinda scary, but I know it will happen! We went out with a group of students on Friday night. It was fun! I'm finally starting to get to know everyones name. That just makes it harder to leave. Usually when you do a show, you know that you'll be able to see the people again because you live around each other. With this show, we leave pretty much right after theshow is over. Even if I do come back here, I'm not sure if I'll get to see all of the friends that I've made. Hopefully they all have access to the internet. We're trying to get them all to sign up for facebook or myspace. Everyone here likes Friendster. Here's a video of a warm-up we do at rehearsal.

I won't bite....I'm just white!

So yesterday, we judged the YMCA academic olympics. It was really fun. We were judges for the singing and dancing. The only hard thing to judge was the native folk dancing. I've seen a lot of it at work throughout the years, but I have no way of knowing if it's authentic, which was one of the judging criteria. I did the best I could though. We got to sit up front for the opening and closing ceremonies with a congressman. It was really neat. At the end, a group of girls came up and wanted a picture with me and the congressman. I felt special. Before the whole thing ended, we all held hands, and did a group sing. No one wanted to hold my hand. They were scared of me! So finally one of the teachers came over with his group, and he held my hand. Jared was laughing.

The show's coming along. We have 8 more days of rehearsal. The lights are up, and now all we need are some new gels. His Grandpa told me to get anything I wanted. There's lots of stuff that could make this theater better, but it's not very necessary. I'll work with what they have. Anyways, I have to go. I get to go play with the lightboard now! I'll write again soon!
